My sister says my dad considered smoking pot to deal with his glaucoma, but decided to follow the doctor’s advice and have surgery. (Since that surgery is the most likely cause of the stroke, he would have been better off choosing the herbal route.)

I had thought about stopping in Taos this year. They are predicting scattered thunder showers through New Mexico and Arizona, so I have decided to just head on for Kingman. (Or, maybe, I am just burned out on spending time with people, and I am using the rain as an excuse to be alone?)

(1pm) Conway, Texas 62,524 9.51 gallons

(4pm (MDT)) Bowlin’s Flying C Ranch, New Mexico 62,771 9.14 gallons

They have a lot of souvenirs here, so I stocked up. (I have been too busy to stop and get anything for others, so it’s about time I took care of that.)

It has been very hot and dry so far today. (I bought a second bag of ice for the cooler, since the first had already melted.)

Fortunately the wind hasn’t been tossing me around across this stretch like last year.

(5:30pm) Driving through Albuquerque during rush hour sucks.

(7:30pm) Gallop, New Mexico 62,976 7.11 gallons

I had planned on stopping here for the nite, but I am feeling good and tiredness isn’t bothering me yet. (Also, it’s almost a full moon, so it should be a beautiful nite for driving across the desert.)

(10pm (MST)) Flagstaff, Arizona 63,190 8.4 gallons

Twas a beautiful drive!

Now for sleep!
