They have a Hardee’s at this stop, so lunch is a little different today.

(10pm) My sister and Bill aren’t doing much of anything these days. (All they can do between jobs is watch the weather channel and hope for a disaster. (Doing property damage claims for insurance companies after disasters seems a bit morbid.)) (Although it pays well, the work is sporadic.)

(8am) My sister has been telling me about her old friend Jane. (They met at the Menninger Clinic back in the early ‘70’s.) (Jane is an heiress with hundreds of millions, but it’s tied up in trust funds and the trustees have her on a small allowance. (Granted she makes lots of bad choices, but they should at least distribute earnings of the trust fund to her.)) (She had a childhood of benign neglect where money replaced love.) (She suffers from manic / depressive disorder.) (Her current beau is a good example of her bad judgement. (e.g., he has a $1,000 a day crack habit. (Which she is paying for by selling her furniture and art work.) (He also beats her.) (Currently he is in jail. (He was originally thrown in jail for beating Jane, but once in they found a warrant for $11,000 in back child support.) (Now she is taking out a second mortgage (Somehow she has convinced some bank to loan to her, even though the house is owned by one of the trust funds.) on her house, so she can pay off the $11,000 and get him out of jail.)))) (She has a couple kids, and her ex has custody of them.) (She lost her driver’s license again. (She loves to drive fast and for some reason she has a string of accidents where people run into the back of her car.) (This time the trustees took the car and hid it, so she won’t drive without a license.) (They made an arrangement with a cab company to drive her around, but the cab can only take her to a limited number of places. (In order to go to bars, she has to take a cab to one of the allowed destinations and then walk a few miles.)))
(6pm) My sister and I drove up to Stillwater to see Stuart. (He is in school and will graduate next spring.) (It sounds like he spends a lot of time partying and only takes a light load of classes.) (He owns some rental real estate, but there is nothing to indicate that he has big bucks. (A few years back Edward claimed to worth ten million. (Either he was lying back then or he lost a whole bunch of money somewhere along the way.))) (It sounds like he has a $1,000 a month party budget. (That would be nice!)) (It sounds like he liked the Marines and was stationed in Saudi Arabia during the gulf war.) (He was married for eight years, but they didn’t have kids. (His ex stayed on in Stillwater after the divorce, despite the fact that she hates it there. (He claims she stayed there so she can continue to make his life miserable.))) (He says he loves Vegas and gambling.) (He showed us the obituary. (It says Edward died 4-7-96.)) (He says Edward didn’t want any dirt over his coffin. (Since they couldn’t find a mausoleum, they covered his body with a huge slab of metal.))
(10pm) Well, today was only low 90’s. (I am glad the people I have visited have air-conditioned houses and cars.)
