Erica commented that it was sad that the government didn't fund programs to help people break nicotine addiction, like they do with alcohol and drugs. (Actually, cigs are just one example of addictions which the government doesn't feel are sufficiently bad to warrant spending money to fight (e.g., addiction to food); and there are some addictions the government actually encourages. (e.g., religion and marriage can be addictive for some people)) (I think what we need to do is to figure out why our society generates such a high number of dependent people, and find ways to change that. (In the mean time, rather than establishing centers to fight an addiction to some particular substance; establish one's that are designed to help fight dependency in general.)) (And, a lot of our current institutions for breaking addiction aren't dealing with dependency. (All they do is shift the addiction from some substance the government has defined as bad, to something else. (e.g., AA shifts a person from addiction to alcohol, to addiction to AA.)-(e.g., I don't think I broke my addictive patterns when I broke my addiction to food, so much, as shifted to an addiction to exercise. (Maybe shifting addiction from something that is harmful to the body, to something that isn’t, is a first step; but it ignores the fact that we have created a society full of addictive personalities! (We have become so focused on having in our culture I suppose it's no surprise.)))))

(1pm) I had a busy morning of running errands and paying bills.
(3pm) Nice workout.
(8pm) I walked over to Ross and Carly's to see if they knew anyone who has some smoke. (Nothing.) (I ended up bs'ing with them for a couple of hours though, and that was nice.)

(Midnite) I took myself to "Witches of Eastwick". (I was sort of disappointed that they drifted so far from the book, but I enjoyed it.)
(10am) Well, I got a father's day card from Joe, so I wrote him a letter. (He says he is thinking of joining the Air Force. (He has a chance to get into the academy; and wanted some input on the idea.) (It says he is joining soon. (Is he done with high school early or signing up early?))) (In my letter I was hostile about the idea of seeing them, for fear they might drive here. (If they came here and saw I have entertainment, a truck and a computer, and told my ex; the Sheriff would follow with a court order to confiscate everything I own for back child support. (I don't think I live extravagantly; but to have anything when owing back child support, one risks losing everything again.) (I will get it paid when I find a job, but for now I am always living under that threat.) (The joys of the divorce wars.)))

I also got a letter from Samantha. (She is doing well. (Good for her.))
