After a slow trek through McDonald’s drive through lane, I am on the road again.

This morning I discovered another fuck up. (I was so tired or rushed yesterday I left the bag with all my shirts in the closet at home. (Luckily I had thrown a couple T-shirts in my other bag.))

(10am) A few years back "Smithsonian" ran an article that said a two-degree increase in worldwide temperatures would turn this area into sand dunes. (’97 and ’98 were the hottest years in the past eon, and this year is hot again. (I wonder how much longer this stretch of road will be open?))

(1pm (CDT)) Hays, Kansas 61,728 9.81 gallons

Another quick stop to empty my bladder and fill the gas tank.

Today’s lunch is courtesy of McDonalds.

(4:30pm) Topeka, Kansas 61,936 7.58 gallons

On the way into town I noticed that my cousin Roy’ old bar is now a gentlemen’s club. (Twas sad to hear he had died this summer. (He was a scoundrel, but I had always liked him, and he gave me advice I still listen to.) (At least he passed gently into the darkness.))

Today’s fuck up was locking my keys in the truck at the gas station. (How stupid!) (Oh well, driving all day with a cold drink between my legs left me with a wet crotch and the wait for AAA gave my shorts time to dry out.) (I will add cup holder to my vehicle wish list.)

The weather guy was sure right about the weather! (Upper 90’s and hi winds all the way.) (I have got a sun burned shoulder after driving all day with my arm hanging out the window.)

(7am) Well, it’s a beautiful morning out here in the garden!

Between the eye surgeries and the stroke dad has gotten behind on chores this summer.

Today’s assignment is to pull up all the stuff in the garden that has finished producing for the year.

Tis amazing how much difference there is in the climate. (Back home my beans and corn were just starting to come on when I left, but here they are done for the year and I am pulling them up.)

(4pm) Well, I got everything pulled out, and I bagged the outside work before it got too hot. (Today the thermometer got up to 105. (I guess I should be glad the humidity is low, but I am just not used to it getting so hot.))
