Another difference is that this year clouds obscure the sky and only one star peeks through to wish me a good and safe journey.

Tis cool here and now. (I probably won’t see much of that on this road trip.)

(9am) Livingston, Montana 60,661 10.87 gallons

The sun broke free of the clouds back around Butte and the day is warming up.

Twas wonderful to get to see the Bridgers this year!

I guess I better turn the heater off. (I wonder how long it will be until I need it again?)

(1pm) Sheridan, Wyoming 60,912 10.46 gallons

It feels like my bladder is getting weaker. (I used to be able to drive a lot further without a pit stop, but now my bladder is ready to explode after only four hours.)

Today it was Burger King for lunch.

(3:30pm) Casper, Wyoming 61,029 6.49 gallons

Tis getting down right warm.

(7pm) Windsor, Colorado 61,302 10 gallons

(7:45pm) Denver, Colorado 61,355

Well, it took 14 hours this year. (Between my shrinking bladder and all the road construction, beating my record eludes me yet again.) (To make matters worse I missed the I70 turnoff and lost another 40 minutes. (The upside of getting lost is that I got to see some of the places I spent time at when I lived here.))

(9:30pm) Limon, Colorado 61,465 6.4 gallons

A positive difference from last year is that I got into the first motel I stopped at. (I had figured it would be harder to find a room in August than in October, but things are starting out well.)

(10:30pm) I had dinner at the same truck stop as last year. (Listening to the truckers was interesting. (I don’t think I could live on the road like they do, but it strikes me as being an interesting life.))

The weatherman says tomorrow will be 90’s and high winds. (Yech!)

Some days I wish I had air conditioning. (And cruise control.)-(And intermittent windshield wipers.) (Oh well, be happy with what I have! (I may have no wheels at all in a year.))
