Today is the 27th anniversary of my moms death, so I stopped by the cemetery and visited with her for awhile. (I had dug up a small heart shaped stone when tilling my garden and I buried that by her grave.)
Originally the motel told me check in was 3:00 p.m., but I managed to get in early. (Nice.)
It has been nice driving around Topeka but I am looking forward to getting over to Lawrence. (If I were to move back that is where I would want to live.) (I wish I had been able to get a room over there. (I called every motel there a couple weeks ago and every room in town was already booked up.))
(3pm) The drive over to Lawrence was interesting. (I can remember doing a 130 on 45th Street and getting here real quick.) (There has been a lot of development and that route was slow.) (I had a problem with starting the truck when I was leaving the motel. (Good thing too. (When I checked I found the battery mounts had come loose. I tightened it down and everything seems to be back to normal.)))
I drove around and found the places I had lived here and took pictures. (The place on Ohio was easy, but it took a lot of driving to find the places on Rosebud.)
I finally found a parking place down by the stadium and walked up to the bell tower and took some pictures of the campus.
I hadnt been watching much news except financial stuff. (Dad and his wife watch it most of the day, so I finally got exposed to how thoroughly Clintons sex scandal has taken over the news and congress. (Considering all the wars and economics problems around the world, its sickening to see them focusing in on that. (What pops into my mind is the image of Nero fiddling while Rome burns.)))
The DOW ended up for the week.
Now I am sitting in the Free State sipping a beer and waiting on Sally. (I havent seen her in about 30 years, but we have been trading e-mail for a couple years.) (Our conversation got pretty racy over the summer, but she has been backing off the past month or so. (After nearly seven years of celibacy, it would be nice to make love with someone as wonderful and adventurous as she is. (If not, that is cool too. (She is brilliant and I love talking with her, so I cant really lose.))))
(9pm) Sally showed up around 3:30 and we had a couple of brews at the Free State and then walked down to another bar to meet her sister Suzanne. (Sally keeps getting more beautiful!) (I enjoyed visiting with her!) (Suzanne, is sure a hoot! (She is a prosecutor now and there were a bunch of other prosecutors and cops at that bar.)) (Twas crowded enough and there were enough extroverts there that I didnt talk much.)
Given the situation, it was a bit tense. (Chasing a married woman around her family didnt seem like a good idea, so I sort of stole a page from "Broadway Danny Rose" and flirted a bit with the district attorney. (She is cute.) (She seemed put off at first, but after she figured out I wasnt Sallys husband she was friendlier.))
