(3pm) Yesterday I rented a bunch of movies, and played couch potato again.

Erica stopped by this morning. (We went for a long walk and had lunch.) (I do enjoy the moments I get to spend with her. (Too much so. (Tis still hard to imagine falling for anyone else.)))

(4pm) Quotes:

James O'Toole -"... new challenges are seldom like old one's, and old responses are seldom appropriate to new challenges."

William James-"Genius … means little more than the facility of perceiving in an unhabitual way."

(7pm) Quotes:

Flora Lewis-"If humans are not perfect, what nonsense it is to think we can invent a perfect society. The best possible society, which can never be anywhere near ideal, has to be the one best able to correct its mistakes, to develop new ideas, adjust to new circumstances."

James O'Toole -"Great leaders are seldom the smartest people in their organizations, but they are willing to surround themselves by people who clearly outclass them intellectually."

(8pm) O'Toole says the four "great themes of political argument" are liberty, equality, quality of life and efficiency; and that these are at odds.  (e.g., as equality increases, freedom declines; as efficiency increases, quality of life goes down.)   (Like with most things in life, the key is balance.)

(6pm) Quote:

James O'Toole -"... a society will always reject policies that do not build on existing cultural ideas or social institutions."

(8am) Tuesday nite I rented a couple of movies.

Wednesday nite was quiet.

Thursday nite Erica stopped by and visited. (Nice.)

Since I seldom see her for long, I started writing to her again. (I enjoy sharing my experiences with her, and appreciate the input she gives me.)

Last nite I rented a couple more movies.

(10pm) Saturday nite I rented a bunch of funny movies, ate some shrooms, and laughed much. (I needed that!)

I called Samantha Saturday nite and visited with her. (She got fired from her job, but is still doing ok in school.) (She says Leo's band may be playing in Missoula soon. (I volunteered my apartment, if they need a place to crash.))
