(1pm) Carrie stopped by and said goodbye. (She is headed home for the summer.) (Hunter has already headed back to Milwaukee for the summer.) (She gave me some food she had left over in her frig. She also gave me a letter from Hunter telling me to get my dick wet.)

(5pm) I went for a long walk, and stopped by the Cunningham's to say howdy to them.

(2am) I went back over to the Cunningham's last nite for dinner and then watched some tv with them.

Then we all went to the Paw and I ended up visiting with a ton of people I knew there. (That was a lot of fun.)

I spent some time last nite at the Paw, trying to find someone who "looked likely", but I couldn't figure out what I am supposed to be looking for. (Oh well.)

(3pm) I went out and walked about ten miles. (That felt good.)

I have been trying to quit cigs again, but I am not doing too well.

Quotes:

Hopkins and Sugerman, "No one here gets out alive." (This is the book about Jim Morrison that Josh had suggested I read.)- "To be a poet entailed more than writing poems. It demanded a commitment to live, and die, with great style and even greater sadness, to wake each morning with the fever raging and know it would never be extinguished except by death, yet to be convinced that this suffering carried a unique reward."

Jim Morrison-"There's the known. And there's the unknown. And what separates the two is the door, and that is what I want to be."

(8am) Carrie commented once that ritual is a major part of getting laid. (I suppose part of my trouble is that I have never learned the rituals. (I still wonder if learning them is what I should be doing.)) (How are we to break out of the pattern of chauvinism, unless we dispense with the rituals that are part and parcel of it?)

She has also told me that it’s rude to talk about other women when I am with her. (She says it’s just bragging and that one shouldn't talk about other women. (Especially about other lovers.))

(8pm) I managed to collect another $50 today from my tax clients who are slow payers. (That will come in handy.)

I took another long walk this evening. (I walk about four miles a day in my normal routine, but it’s nice to go on long walks now and then. (Tis a good time to think.))

(9pm) Quotes:

William Blake-"The road of excess leads to the palace of wisdom."

"Prudence is a rich, ugly old maid courted by Incapacity."
