38. Don't we, by focusing too much of ourselves into our work, to the determinate of intimacy, throw ourselves out of balance? (Maybe if we gave more time to intimacy, it would help to restore us and renew us; and our work time would be more productive?)
Quotes:
Craig Strete-"There has yet to be a world that
did not have a string attached. There has yet to be a world, but one can hope for it.
Until then, we must pay attention that we see more clearly the string so that we may
someday touch people without tying them to us like beaded souvenirs on a necklace."
Anwar Sadat-"...he who can't change the very
fabric of his thought will never be able to change reality, and will never, therefore,
make any progress."
Mahatma Gandhi-"Every night I die and every
morning I am reborn."
(7pm) I took myself to the movie "Johnny Dangerously" tonite. (Cute, but not great.)
Notes from the ozone:
1. Didn't the mind create its own likeness in the computer? (e.g., the massive storage devices they have could be compared to our unconscious mind, and the processor with which they handle analysis could be compared to the conscious mind.)-(One big difference, in my opinion, is that our unconscious mind does the processing on a lot of the data we are collecting in storage.) (Isn't the concept of the computer an ideal of our culture? (i.e., tis a tool for analytical thought that isn't effected by human emotion, and doesn't complain. (It just works away, day and nite, doesn't go on strike, ....))) (So far, people are still ahead of the machines, but are our minds too blunted by our dependencies for us to continue to stay ahead?)
2. We look at the world through a filter. (e.g., if I am interested in some new topic, I have noticed that I suddenly start noticing a lot of information on the topic.) (I think that the unconscious mind makes an adjustment in the information filter, based on what the conscious mind is looking for; so that the information related to that topic is sent on to the conscious mind for processing.)-(And sometimes it ignores the conscious mind's wishes.)-(And, sometimes it starts sending through the part of the vast amount of data it has collecting, that it wants us to think about consciously.) (We are constantly receiving far more information, from our various senses, than our conscious mind can handle and still function; so most of it has to be filtered out as useless, before it comes into consciousness.) (Aren't psychics merely people who, somehow, are able to adjust that filter so that they can draw upon a wider range of the data that their senses are collecting?)
3. The brain is electrical, in part, and effected by waves. (e.g., electro-magnetic, light, heat, etc.) (Could it be the wavelength of the light the sun reflects off of the moon, which effects us emotionally when the full moon comes?) (Could these various external forces effect the filter, varying the quantity and quality of the information received by the conscious mind?)
4. Another part of how the brain functions is related to its chemical aspects. (I wonder how much of our behavior is effected by what we consume?)
(10pm) Quiet evening.
I am not sure I am ready to face Monday morning.
It has been a different weekend. (And, I am still stiff and sore from playing racquetball.)
Carrie says she misses Erica. (So do I.)
